The long walk I was going to do with Monika is actually taking place next Wednesday, so Mas and I went to Borehamwood to get another sack of cat food today which came with a free toy which has catnip in it. We went to our fish and chip cafe and had lunch. Our friend with the ferret said she had recently bought a better harness and extending lead as she takes Bute, the ferret, out for walks and now he has more freedom when walking with her.
Later I went for a walk, just to keep up the exercise, and we watched The Bill in the evening.
Today Mas had to go for physiotherapy for his arm again. I walked down to the doctors and changed my appointment day, then went into the library and borrowed CDs of Jacques Lousier and Jan Garbarek music. Then I went home, vacuumed and tidied up. Our home looks almost back to normal now. The crooked pictures, knocked over lamp, sooty footprints and cat toys have all been put to rights again.
We watched New Tricks in the evening, then I washed the dishes and had a brief but intense fight with the cat on the bed (Salty purring loudly throughout), before I started doing mending and listening to the radio. Listening to Late Junction, I heard Nigel Kennedy and the Kroke band playing Lullaby for Kamila.

Cool cats and vicious ladders
Yesterday we discovered that Salty was no longer wearing his collar, obviously he forgot to collect it after his garden party last night. As he now knows his address and telephone number we decided not to bother to replace it.
Because the coffee pot had a crack in it we made our breakfast coffee in the teapot; it tasted just the same, but seemed strange. Later I went walking and bought a new one, and a blue shirt which I really did not need.
When I returned home I made some tea for Mas and discovered that he had blood running down his nose. He said that the aluminium (Alsatian?) ladder had made a vicious and unprovoked attack on him as he tried to get something from the attic! As Romy remarked, he should stay away from ladders, and that is not the first time that has been said!
Today my computer which has continually has been playing up, had detached itself from AOL, and Mas who has more patience than me spent time getting me reconnected. I did some vacuuming, narrowly missing sucking up the cat several times as he has a fascination with it all. Later I did some more on the exercise bike, and read my library book which I am enjoying.
In the evening we watched Mediterraneo, a film dedicated to all those who are running away. I liked it more than Mas; it was an Academy Award winner in 1992 for the best foreign film. And so to bed.

Nice evening listening to relaxed jazz, disappointing pub interlude
On Thursday I had to return to the hospital to talk with the specialist nurse as planned, and this was very useful and I came away feeling cheerful. The weather was warm, and people were sitting outside at the pavement cafes in Belsize Park.
Pete came over in the evening and we had a nice time sitting around and talking while listening to the good jazz compilations that Tobe made for me. Pete also bought lots of CDs to watch and we saw a couple of Frasiers before going off to bed.
The next day we had a relaxed breakfast, and a surprise package was delivered which came from Romy and Tobe and was filled with all manner of intriguing things including some birch knitting needles (as I had lost my other ones in hospital), Japanese wool and some hand dyed wool which it turns out is partly made from seaweed. Also a game called Carcasonne which is being played in Ontario and looks very intriguing.
We went to lunch at our pub in Stanmore, but were disappointed as the food was not good and the place seemed to be full of unpleasant people which was unusual, but I expect it will be a long time before we try it again.
Pete volunteered to do the vacuuming, and we all had a quick rest before having tea and I walked with Pete down to the station as he was off to meet a pal in Hampstead.
In the evening Mas and I watched some more I Claudius and some Frasiers as there was nothing of interest on TV.
