I spoke to Margaret who has been feeling ill for quite a while. I also managed to catch up on a few emails, and went for a long walk in the afternoon.
When I was doing things in the kitchen I noticed a couple of suspicious characters looking at Ben and Poppy's house, but luckily Ben had seen them and told them to clear off, which was good.
Mas went over to talk to Poppy and Ben for a while in the evening.
Despite the weather being really cold Mas and I reluctantly dragged ourselves out and away, and went swimming. As it was so cold there were hardly any people in the pool. At one point two very tattooed people jumped into the pool, and swam for about five minutes and left looking virtuous and pleased with themselves. Mas and I managed to stay in for an hour. We felt much warmer when we left, and invigorated.
On the way home we stopped off to get some food for Salty, and a couple of other things.
In the evening I began to think about what I want to paint next, and trying to whip up some enthusiasm.

Foxy cold weather
Saturday and Sunday were bitterly cold, but Mas still went into the garden sawing up bits of trees, and I went for a walk one of the days. Mas was watching Battlestar Gallactica and some Dead or Alives when resting and getting warm again.
I did some knitting (when Salty was asleep) and made some banana bread. Salty now likes this as much as rock cakes. We had been having a few snow showers, but during the evening the snow began in ernest. Looking out of the window at about 3.30am everything was white and bright, and I saw a fox streak across Glen's garden, get onto the fence and run quickly along the top of it. I did not mention this to Mas as he is worried that a fox may attack Salty when he is in the garden.

Hot meal and cold shopping
On Wednesday we drove off to St. Albans, and got our shopping from the market early as it was very cold. We were happy to meet up with Tania and Robert and drink some nice hot jasmin tea in our usual Thai restaurant and have lunch. Tania had bought us a holly wreath that she had made for us, which will be the first decoration we put up.
When we left the restaurant it had got even colder, all the traders were blue, and on the fish stall the fresh fish were frozen rigid and I knew how they felt! It was 3° as we drove home. We had a beautiful drive home, the sky was translucent with the afterglow of the sunset, and there was an almost full moon in the sky.
We were glad to get indoors and have a hot cup of tea before we put our groceries away.
